Are we doing our job?

وَجَٰهِدُوا۟ فِى ٱللَّهِ حَقَّ جِهَادِهِۦ ۚ هُوَ ٱجْتَبَىٰكُمْ وَمَا جَعَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِى ٱلدِّينِ مِنْ حَرَجٍ ۚ مِّلَّةَ أَبِيكُمْ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ ۚ هُوَ سَمَّىٰكُمُ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ مِن قَبْلُ وَفِى هَٰذَا لِيَكُونَ ٱلرَّسُولُ شَهِيدًا عَلَيْكُمْ وَتَكُونُوا۟ شُهَدَآءَ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ ۚ فَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَٱعْتَصِمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ هُوَ مَوْلَىٰكُمْ ۖ فَنِعْمَ ٱلْمَوْلَىٰ وَنِعْمَ ٱلنَّصِيرُ

And strive hard in Allah's Cause as you ought to strive (with sincerity and with all your efforts that His Name should be superior). He has chosen you (to convey His Message of Islamic Monotheism to mankind by inviting them to His religion, Islam), and has not laid upon you in religion any hardship, it is the religion of your father Ibrahim (Abraham) (Islamic Monotheism). It is He (Allah) Who has named you Muslims both before and in this (the Quran), that the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) may be a witness over you and you be witnesses over mankind! So perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), give Zakat and hold fast to Allah [i.e. have confidence in Allah, and depend upon Him in all your affairs] He is your Maula (Patron, Lord, etc.), what an Excellent Maula (Patron, Lord, etc.) and what an Excellent Helper!

As Muslims we must do the minor things that we are required to do. However or faith is not a religion it is a Deen. It has to affect the world around us. What is Allah's Cause in that what we are to be striving? To enjoin the good and forbid the evil. Are we doing that?

I frequent a book club at the masjid and we are currently reading Milestones by Syed Qutb and he's pretty blunt in what we are supposed to be doing, however there is an sphere of influence that we must have. It is easy to complain about what we aren't doing collectively. However it is much more difficult to effect the changes you want to make and only as a force of effecting change can you get people to move.

It is kind of like heat. When heat starts to increase it affects those that are closest to it. As the heat increases what is closest to it begins to move and either it joins in or moves to a distance of comfortability. It affects all around it both those who appreciate it and those who don't.

We only have power over our choices. We have no power over others. Holding the illusion of power over others is frustrating and will lead to madness at best. Therefore there is no sense in complaining about the Inaction of others only the Inaction of self.

We only have this moment to change something what are we going to do with it?
